TVLine gives us the TVD cast last interview at Comic Con ever!

Get those tissues ready, because you’re about to watch The Vampire Diaries cast’s last San Diego Comic-Con interview ever.

The whole gang, along with executive producer Julie Plec, swung by TVLine’s SDCC suite (presented by ZTE) on Saturday evening to preview the CW drama’s epic final season, as well as look back on seven years of blood, sweat and (mostly) tears in Mystic Falls. Among the topics discussed:
* Which dream ‘ships would the cast have loved to see? (Hint: If it were up to Matt Davis, Alaric would have worked his way through all of his former students by now.)
* Which iconic prop is everybody planning to steal from the set before leaving for the last time?
* If Stefan and Caroline do, in fact, get the #SterolineJuneWedding the fans are hoping/tweeting for, will that make Stefan the stepdad to Alaric’s twins?
* Will Bonnie ever get her magic back?!
* And, of course, what are the chances we’ll see Elena in the flesh before the series finale cuts to black? (Spoiler alert: Pretty damn good!)
So hit PLAY on the video above — it’s a little long, but hey, did I mention it’s the last one ever?

Zap2It has the cast of the Vampire Diaries gives what they think would be the way to end the series.

Hearts broke all around the world on Saturday (July 23) when “The Vampire Diaries” announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Season 8 would be its final season. Say it ain’t so!

As we prepare to say goodbye to everyone in Mystic Falls, Zap2it couldn’t help but wonder what the cast envisions as their own perfect ending for their characters and the series?

Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley have a dark future envisioned for Damon and Stefan, suggesting that the two brothers should basically commit suicide by taking off their daylight rings and walking into the sun. It sounds too dark to be true, but you just never know with “The Vampire Diaries.”

Zach Roerig came up with an even more shocking idea for Matt. “If I could envision a happy ending for Matt Donovan after seven years of not finding love, it would be that maybe he discovers his inner love, which is maybe the fact that he’s not into chicks.”

Whether “The Vampire Diaries” ends with a gay Matt, a double suicide, or the long-awaited Delena reunion, we’re definitely going to be crying our way through the entire thing. #TVDForever

“The Vampire Diaries” returns Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The CW has released a farewell video to the fans from the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries:

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES cast and producers returned to Comic-Con 2016, making their eighth appearance at the convention on Saturday, July 23, to give attendees a glimpse at what is to come in Season 8 — and they then surprised all fans in attendance with a love letter in video form, thanking them their support throughout the years as executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec announced that the show’s upcoming eighth season would be its last. The video contained the exclusive premiere of the new song “Changing Tides,” by The Fray. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES returns for its final season Friday, October 21, at 8/7c on The CW

The Producers of The Vampire Diaries announced today at the San Diego Comic Con that Season 8 will be the last season of the Vampire Diaries.

“The Vampire Diaries” is ending its run on The CW after 8 seasons. The cast and executive producers made the announcement during the show’s panel at Comic-Con.

The decision to end the series comes as little surprise, as all involved in the series have long signaled their interest in wrapping the run with the series at a creative high.

“We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice,” said star Ian Somerhalder back in April. Star Kat Graham had already announced that this season would be her last; and Nina Dobrev had departed after season 6.

“It’s so rare for a show to get to last this long, and what a privilege that Mark Pedowitz and Peter Roth have allowed us to choose the time to end the journey on our own creative terms,” said executive producer Julie Plec. “It’s been eight of the best years of my life. I will miss it terribly, but I’m so proud to be here to see it to its proper end.”

The CW had renewed the drama for its eighth — and now final — season in March, along with the rest of its slate.

“The Vampire Diaries has meant so much to so many fans around the world, and has meant so much to all of us at The CW,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz. “I am a huge fan of the show myself, and I’ve seen every episode. So I am very happy that we can give Julie and Kevin the chance to finish their story the way they have envisioned, and to give viewers a fantastic conclusion to eight spectacular seasons.”

Co-creator Williamson announced at the panel that he will return to this season as a writer.

“I feel so blessed to have been a part of The Vampire Diaries. It has been a magical, thrilling, life-changing experience,” said Williamson. “Working with Julie and our amazing cast and crew has been one of the highlights of my career and life. At its core, the show has always been about family and that’s what we have become behind the scenes as well — one big family. And while it’s sad to see it come to an end, I’m thrilled to be back and part of the final chapter.”

The eighth and final 16-episode season of “The Vampire Diaries” will premiere Friday October 21 on The CW.

The series is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Outerbanks Entertainment, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.

In exciting news, The CW has renewed The Vampire Diaries for Season 8!

Here is the news from!

In an unprecedented move for a broadcast network, the CW announced Friday that it has given early renewals to every current series on its schedule.

Ratings may not be all that great for some of the shows, but CW President Mark Pedowitz showed extreme confidence in his slate, ordering pickups for the 10 series comprising its current schedule as well as “Reign,” which resumes its third season next month. Given that CW has numerous pilots in contention to join the lineup next season, it’s clear that the network’s strategy will be to spread out these renewed series across fall, midseason and summer.

Among the pickups are rookie series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” and veterans “Supernatural” and “The Vampire Diaries.” “Supernatural,” which began on The WB in 2005, will be back for its 12th season, which will include the drama’s 250th episode.

“The CW has become home to some of the most critically acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” said Pedowitz. “As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-17 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”

The series being ordered for the 2016-17 season are: “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” (season 2), “Jane the Virgin” (season 3), “The Flash” (season 3), “iZombie” (season 3), “Arrow” (season 5), “Supernatural” (season 12), “DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” (season 2), “The 100” (season 4), “The Vampire Diaries” (season 8), “The Originals” (season 4) and “Reign” (season 4).
